Logging On Again...

Those ominous dark clouds that have been lingering over our economy are slowly starting to part, letting through a sliver of hope. Birds are singing, people are dancing in the streets. Overly dramatic? Maybe. But the economy is getting better, people are buying again, and that’s good news for everybody.

With consumer spending experiencing a sudden growth spurt in 2010, how can savvy business owners reap the benefits? Well, according to a report from eMarketer.com, the popular answer seems to be online advertising.

Take a look at these projections. In 2010, spending for online advertising is estimated to increase by 10.8% over the previous year. And it’s only expected to continue the incline from there.

Online marketing is picking up steam, and businesses are taking notice. As marketers see more and more return on their online investments, nation-wide more advertising dollars are being shifted from traditional media to digital media. Even here at VCG, we’re seeing a significant shift from our clients: moving away from the traditional yellow pages advertising and into online advertising avenues. Maybe this internet thing is going to catch on after all, huh?

With their wallets a little fatter and their viewpoints a little more optimistic, consumers are back online and ready to spend.
